Thor: Ragnarok Assembles Mighty Cast

That’s right. TWO Marvel puns in one title. That’s what the people love.

Anyway, it looks like the sequel to Thor and Thor: The Dark World is coming together quite nicely. The casting news comes on the back of the equally impressive cast list for Ryan Coogler’s Black Panther. Kevin Feige really isn’t holding back for phase 3.

With Chris Hemsworth, Tom Hiddleston and Idris Elba all returning as Thor, Loki and Heimdall respectively and Mark Ruffalo confirmed some time ago to be appearing as Bruce Banner/ the enormous green rage monster known as The Hulk, it’s now been confirmed that Cate Blanchett, Karl Urban and Jeff Goldblum have all signed up. Tessa Thompson is also part of the cast, joining her Creed collaborators Michael B Jordan and Ryan Coogler in the MCU.

Blanchett will be playing the villainous Hela, of whom Ruffalo had the following to say

“She plays the worst of the worst, So evil. She is going to kill us. It’s such a great part she gets to play”

Karl Urban will be playing Skurge, also known as the Executioner, an Asgardian who’s often an antagonist to Thor and associate of Loki. Tessa Thompson will be playing Valkyrie, an Asgardian warrior and friend to Thor, while Jeff Goldblum is the Grandmaster.

As if that wasn’t exciting enough, Ruffalo has teased his involvement in the film which sees his Hulk’s first outing outside of an Avengers film. Here’s what he had to say, speaking to Entertainment Tonight.

“It’s an intergalactic buddy road movie with Banner and Thor”

He also said that we’d see “A lot more Hulk” and that “The Hulk gets Hulk-ier. The Hulk Hulks out. Hulk-ier and bigger.”

More Hulk sounds good to me.

Kevin Feige has also been speaking about the casting announcements.

“The continuation of the epic Thor franchise will be powerful and unique, and with the additions of Cate, Jeff, Tessa, Karl, and Mark to the cast we have the makings of his most dangerous and heroic adventure yet”

“The sheer, raw talent each of these actors brings to the screen can’t be quantified. Having any one of them join the Marvel Cinematic Universe would be an honor, and having all of them is incredible.”

Thor: Ragnarok lands in UK cinemas on the 27th October 2017. I don’t care when it’s out in America because you keep trying to spoil Game of Thrones for me. Find out yourself.
