Iron Man-Spider-man Bromance in the Works

Robert Downey Jr himself is joining up with Tom Holland in Spider-man: Homecoming. Now this is interesting. It’s not clear yet who he’ll be playing. Oh right, yes. Probably Iron Man…yes, of course.

Here’s the proof!

Anyway, I’m guessing Marvel enjoyed what they saw between the two in Civil War and have decided to capitalise/cash in (I hear those Iron Man films are quite popular). It’s particularly hard to speculate how he fits in to the film considering we know nothing of the story, and we don’t know how Civil War ends…yet. So I won’t bother with much¬†speculation. But I’m assuming they’re pals at the end of Civil War and I’m guessing Tony’s around to be a sort of Father figure to little Peter and teach him how to be a superhero. Maybe we’ll even get a training montage.

Fingers crossed.

But seriously, this could be a really fun dynamic and I’m hoping it’s more than just a cameo. It will be interesting to see whether we get other MCU characters appearing, there were rumours of Captain America appearing, but again without knowing the end of Civil War, it’s difficult to speculate.

This will be RDJ’s 7th appearance in the MCU, if you don’t count his post-credits cameo in The Incredible Hulk (I don’t). Man, he’s really racking up the appearances. He’s also set to appear in Avengers: Infinity War.

In contrast, this is Tom Holland’s first solo outing as the Web Slinger, so I wonder if this could be a sort of ‘passing of the torch’ movie. Out with the old in with the new. Probably not though, Marvel will keep making money as long as RDJ is in the films and RDJ will keep doing the films because they throw buckets of money at him. Win-win.

Anyway, yeah looking forward to this. Should be great.
